Although the MHS Jazz Ensemble did not win, place, or show, they turned in a premier performance amidst a strong field of competitors at the Liberty Jazz Festival on Friday, February 15th in North Liberty, IA. Iowa City High took first place, followed by Linn-Mar in second, and Cedar Rapids Washington in third.

Featured soloist on trumpet for Muscatine, senior Odysseus Orr, illustrated that rare quality of fusion, when the instrument and the musician become one, as he transcended the elemental process of marking and adding up points to deliver one of the best solo performances in the 4A division competition Friday night.

You too can have this extraordinary musical experience. Come out and support the MHS Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Lee Plummer!
