1952 - 2026

Paul “Papa” Tillie, 73, of Wapello, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at the High Prairie Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the High Prairie Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Church fellowship hall. Visitation for Paul will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services, Muscatine. Paul Walter Tillie was born on April 22, 1952 in Scranton, Iowa, to Lester and Ruth Ayres. He was later adopted by parents, Dr. John E. and Juanita E. (Embree) Tillie. Paul was united in marriage to Janet Kleindolph on January 16, 1971, the couple later divorced. On October 22, 1982, Paul was united in marriage to Cynthia Sue (Rickey) Everett at the home of his parents in Muscatine. Paul had been employed at HON Geneva as a welder before retiring after 38 ½ years of service. He along with his wife, Cindy devoted many years to the dedicated care of their aging parents. He had served on the Muscatine Rescue Unit for many years and as Captain for a short time. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the High Prairie Methodist Church. Paul loved fishing, camping, spending time specifically at the family campground - Papa’s Paradise, bowling and more than anything cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Paul will be deeply missed by his wife, Cindy of Wapello; daughters, Paula (Michael) Barnhart of Muscatine, Cathy (Warren) Ribbink of Muscatine, Tabitha (Chad) Bieri of Fruitland and Bridget (Lucio) Estrada of Muscatine; grandchildren, Dillon (Kayla) Rohr, Traven (Natalie) Tillie, Arianna (Adrian) Aguilar, Abigail (Bradley) Everett, Keaten Bieri, Gabriella (Gabriel) Aguilar, Jackson Bieri, Gavin Estrada, Hannah (Damon) Stalkfleet, Mya (Griffen) Steines and Kord (Dani) Ribbink; great grandchildren, Braxton, Emma and Raelynn; sisters, Linda Lee of Des Moines and Ann Endecott of Nebraska and his beloved dogs, Sabre, Bailey and Mylah.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law and siblings, Frank, Chuck, John, Jim, Vern, Roy, Susie, Sam, Kenneth and Ralph.
