David Scott Devore, 61, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Celebration of Life will be from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Letts Community Center, 125 E. Iowa Street, Letts. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Scott was born on July 3, 1963, in Muscatine, the son of George and Ethel Devore. He married Sandy Jones on August 4, 1984, in Letts.
He volunteered, in the past, for the Louisa County Ambulance service and also retired from the Letts volunteer Fire Department. He retired from Bayer after 23 years and recently taught CPR and the EMT classes at the University of Iowa.
He enjoyed camping, deer hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren and going to all their events. Scott was a vendor at various flea market locations, often taking his grandchildren with him. He was always on the move. Scott loved being a paramedic, helping people, and his dog, Peanut.
Scott will be missed by his wife, Sandy Devore of Letts; two daughters, Marissa Boruff and husband, Nick, and their children, Natalie, Garrett, and Lauryn, of Illinois City, Illinois, and Allison Rife and husband, Zack, and their children, Chloe, Westin, and Daxtin, of Letts; in-laws, Jack and Pat Jones of Letts; brothers-in-law, Mike Jones of Letts, and Lee Jones of Muscatine; one sister, Patti Devore; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Peanut.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel; brothers, Terry, in infancy, Don Devore, and Dan Devore; and sister-in-law, Jackie Jones.
