The National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources (NAEIR) supports communities by collecting merchandise donations from generous corporations such as 3M, Rubbermaid, and Paper Mate, and giving this surplus to schools and nonprofit organizations. NAEIR donates these supplies with the intention that organizations will use them for charitable purposes, serving the needy, children, the elderly, and the ill.
The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine has organized and brought the NAEIR program to the Muscatine community for the past six years. This year, the Community Foundation proudly extended the NAEIR program to local schools within Muscatine County. Through collaborative efforts with CBI Bank & Trust, local nonprofits and schools may order from a first-come, first-serve online NAEIR catalog. NAEIR will collect and distribute the requested items at a later date.
CBI Bank & Trust sponsors the NAEIR program in Muscatine, offsetting much of the costs associated with this opportunity and making the supplies free to participating nonprofits and schools. The Muscatine Center for Social Action (MCSA) and the Muscatine Community School District (MCSD) also assist in housing the large number of supplies ready for distribution.
“Through the sponsorship and generosity of our partners at CBI Bank & Trust, the collaboration of volunteer hours and use of facilities at MCSA and the school district, we were able to bring over $20,000 worth of supplies at the beginning of this year from NAEIR to nonprofits and schools throughout Muscatine County. This kind of program truly helps free-up expenses that would otherwise eat away at the cost of operations for much needed nonprofit organizations throughout our community,” reflected Kelly Rushford, Manager of Programs and Services for the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine.
Many organizations throughout the community already feel the benefits of these donated supplies. “We wanted to thank you for your organization and ordering the NAEIR supplies! The NAEIR supplies will be beneficial for use with counseling clients and their families. We appreciate the generosity of the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine!” stated Audra Diederichs, Family Counselor for Families, Inc. “You have helped make me a pretty popular guy at school today! Thanks so much for coordinating this great opportunity for us!” shared Dan Stevenson of the West Liberty Community School District.
NAEIR’s most frequently requested merchandise includes office supplies, maintenance items, and janitorial products. For questions regarding this program, please contact the Community Foundation’s Manager of Programs and Services, Kelly Rushford (563)-264-3863 or via email at [email protected]
