This previous week was a tough one. With businesses and schools closed for several days, it felt like the whole world slowed down for a brief moment. Since many students and parents likely were home together and somewhat confined, I hope that everyone took advantage of the time you got to spend with family.
How often do we get the chance to spend that much time on a day of the week when normally we would all be busy with our normal schedules? It is important that we see these little moments we get to spend together as just as important as things like family vacations. Even though it was just a couple of days, the memories made will last a lifetime.
Even now I can still vividly remember the days when school would be cancelled, and it was too dangerous for my dad to drive to his job. We would often be working outside, cutting wood to feed our wood-burning furnace and heat our house, or if it was still too cold and snowy out, we would hang out inside watching our favorite westerns. (Lots of John Wayne!)
These are some of my favorite memories from growing up, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. So I hope you recognize just how important these moments you get to spend with family really are.
Stay warm and enjoy the times you are in, because we all know just how quickly time passes!
