The Prairie Radio Communications Ag Round Table on KWPC, Tuesday, September 25, in Muscatine will be moderated by Tom Steever, an anchor on Brownfield Ag News. Steever is one of many voices on the 480-station farm radio network, heard on KWPC in Muscatine.
“I contribute what little I can, but more than that, I learn something from each of the panel members on the KWPC Ag Round Table,” said Steever, referring to the two-hour program that will air from 10:00 a.m. until noon on that Tuesday. “This is a return visit for me,” he said. “I hosted the discussion on one occasion earlier this year and have co-hosted in the past with Vanessa Wetterling. I’m always impressed with the quality of knowledgeable ag professionals assembled for the Round Table.”
In his 16th year at Brownfield Ag News, a typical day for Steever ends in the studio, anchoring a newscast of carefully written and researched news pieces that tell the story of agriculture to an audience across ten Upper Midwest states.
“My favorite part of the job, however, is when I’m out of the studio among the people who produce our food, fiber, and fuel,” said Steever, whose broadcast career spans four decades. In addition to reporting from farms, Steever has reported farm-related stories from at least 16 foreign countries, including Cuba, China, and Vietnam, focusing primarily on trade issues.
“Trade and the Farm Bill were hot topics when I moderated the Ag Round Table in March,” said Steever. “Both have become even more prominent, and there should be harvest news to discuss.”
