“My mother was an educator for almost 40 years. I saw the impact she had on the lives of so many special education students. Pursuing an opportunity to serve on the Muscatine School Board will help me share the passion for education I gained from my mother,” McCarter stated.
An Iowa native, McCarter graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Business Administration. Prior to moving to Muscatine, he served as vice president and president of the PTO of his children’s elementary school in Iowa City.
“Muscatine is now our home. While participating in Leadership Muscatine and developing my service project, I had the opportunity to create Significant Souls. It was my goal to provide a simple pair of new tennis shoes to children who do not have access to any suitable to wear. This was accomplished by partnering with the United Way and community educators who see the need firsthand. It is my hope that this will help children realize they truly are Significant Souls,” stated McCarter.
McCarter is an active community volunteer and currently serves on the boards of Muscatine Charities and the Muscatine Art Center. He is also President elect of Kiwanis and is on the United Way Kids First and Chamber of Commerce Membership Committees.
