On Saturday, RAGBRAI riders will visit Muscatine to celebrate the end of a 420-mile ride. Area residents who would like to experience a bit of the fun can join the ride close to the end.
The “Casual RAGBRAI Ride” will meet at the basketball courts by the Pearl City Station on the Muscatine riverfront at 10:30 a.m. The riders will then “off road” to Mulford Evangelical Church at 2400 Hershey Avenue on Saturday morning. The route to Mulford will be designed to avoid the RAGBRAI route.
Riders will then ride back to the riverfront as a group before noon, and will assist in welcoming RAGBRAI riders who will be arriving at that time.
Event organizers declare the only requirements are a great attitude, welcoming antics, and a willingness to take the shortened route at a slow pace. Riders are encouraged to wear RAGBRAI Muscatine T-shirts, which are available at various businesses around Muscatine, or by calling the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 563-263-8895. Riders will need their own bike, water, and helmet, as these will not be provided.
All riders are welcome to attend this event, regardless of age or experience.
