Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Chaplain Gaylor Nelson will officiate. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Nichole Sorgenfrey, Nathan Brown, Aaron Brown, and Courtney Klouda. Honorary Bearers will be Tyler Sorgenfrey, Tanner Sorgenfrey, Addison Brown, Ethan Brown, Addalynn Heath, Rylee Brown, and Brady Brown. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the American Legion following the committal service. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the funeral home. Shirley was born on September 30, 1931, in Muscatine, the daughter of John and Cora Pettet Rock. She married Leonard Brown on March 20, 1948.
She worked for Wolverine for several years then a homemaker. She liked to collect bears and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, drawing, and was a self-taught accomplished pianist. She enjoyed walking the mall and the riverfront with her lady group.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Roger L. Brown and wife, Pam, of Muscatine; her daughter, Theresa Klouda and husband, Ron, of Fruitland; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna White and husband, Ed, of Arizona.
