The Muscatine Community School District will hold the sixth annual Muscatine Community School District Race for the Schools on May 5. This event includes a 5K race and a one-mile race known as the Muskie Mile.
The Muskie Mile will be timed this year and will be held at 8 a.m. at  Muscatine High School. The 5K will follow the Muskie Mile starting at 8:30 a.m. Students running the Muskie Mile will be eligible for overall and age group awards. Adults who enter the Mile race will not be eligible for awards. All participants in the 5K will be eligible for both overall and age group awards.
Also, keep an eye out for a purple and gold-painted rock. This rock awards one free entry to the race.
Student registration fees will be discounted 50% with scholarships available for MCSD students. The cost per adult is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the Muskie Mile. After April 26, the cost per event will increase by $5. With the discount, students pay $10 for the 5K and $5 for the Muskie Mile, with costs going up by $2.50 after April 26. Registration includes a shirt. Proceeds from this event support physical education and student wellness in the MCSD.
