The Muscatine Community School’s Board of Education approved the hire of three administrators at its meeting last night and one administrator at its meeting on April 11, 2016.

Jaimie Caffery, currently an Instructional Coach for the district, will replace Becky Wichers as principal at Grant Elementary for the 2016-17 school year. Prior to this, Mrs. Caffery taught  6th and 7th grade math and reading at Central Middle School and 1st and 2nd grade multi-age classroom at Irving Weber Elementary in Iowa City. Her experiences at both the elementary and middle school level, coupled with her instructional coaching experience, made her an ideal fit for the Grant Elementary principalship.

Becky Wichers, Grant Elementary Principal, will be moving to the district office as Director of Teaching and Learning. Mrs. Wichers began her career as an elementary teacher at Franklin Elementary before becoming the Grant Elementary principal. She has been in a leadership position for the past 9  years and has been instrumental in successfully implementing the Leader in Me at Grant. Her new position will entail working with curriculum delivery and special programs.

Mary Beilke has been selected to be principal of Mulberry Elementary following Ann Goodman’s retirement. Ms. Beilke is currently the Literacy and Curriculum School Improvement Consultant with the Mississippi Bend AEA and has been in this position for the past 13 years. Prior to that she taught 2nd and 3rd grades and was an assistant elementary principal both in Alabama and 1st and 4th grades in Las Vegas. Her vast teaching and literacy/curriculum will be of great benefit as she begins her new position at Mulberry.

Tom Anderson will be taking over the reins as Director of Finance replacing long-time district employee Jean Garner begins her retirement. Mr. Anderson comes to the district from West Liberty Schools and has been in a similar position for that district since October 2000. He also has experience as an accountant, accounting manager, and credit analyst.

The Board of Education, Superintendent Riibe, and district administrators welcome these four individuals to our school family and look forward to working with them to better serve our district’s students and staff.
