The Flickinger Learning Center is scheduled to be the recipient of funds raised by a night of comedy called Passing Notes. A group calling themselves the Muscatine Society of Free Thinkers will host the event in the upstairs room at Boonies on the Avenue on Saturday, April 30 from 6:30-10:00 p.m.

The lineup for the evening includes local comics Austin Black, Nikki Gillette, Chris Schlighting, and Taylor Williams. The evening will be hosted by James Draper. Tickets for the comedy night can be purchased at Boonies or at the Flickinger Learning Center for $12.00 in advance or $15.00 at the door.

Though proceeds will benefits children through the programs at the Flickinger Learning Center, due to some mature content, the comedy show will be for ages 18+.

The Flickinger Learning Center works with under-privileged children and adults from around the community to provide a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Programs offered through FLC include tutoring programs and weekend food packets for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

FLC is in their second decade of helping under-privileged youth in the Muscatine community. The center began in 2003 and has since expanded their mission throughout the school district, with locations at Franklin, Madison, and Washington schools, in addition to the original location just off the corner of Mulberry and 5th streets
