Muscatine and The Volunteer Centers of Iowa (VCI), in partnership with the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, will be hosting a web-based training resource for Iowa nonprofit, public, faith-based, and service organizations. The six-session VCI Volunteer Management Training Series, running April 20 through June 29, 2017, will provide best practices training presented by leading experts from across the state.

“It is exciting to be able to provide volunteer training to our community with the partnerships through the state,” said Nichole Sorgenfrey, Volunteer Center, United Way of Muscatine. “Muscatine has lots of great volunteers in the community, and with having our agencies trained in volunteer management, we can help retain those volunteers.”

Effectively managed volunteers deliver mission-driven results, and well-trained staff are key for an effective volunteer program. This live, interactive webinar series will provide a consistent curriculum throughout the state on the following topics: Understanding Volunteering: Exploring the Heart of the Volunteer Sector; Planning for Volunteer Engagement: Building a Solid Foundation; Recruiting and Placing Volunteers: Matching the Skills with Service Needs; Orientation and Training: Achieving Service Excellence; Supervision: Maximizing the Volunteer Experience; and Evaluation: Improving Results with Data and Feedback.

Organizations that already utilize volunteers and those interested in utilizing volunteers are encouraged to attend. Participants will be connected with other volunteer coordinators from throughout the state, while being provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of this advanced curriculum.
