Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds have called on fellow Iowans to join in a one-kilometer walk on Wednesday.

That’s about 7 1/2 blocks or 12 minutes' time.

You can join the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry at noon for a walk along Muscatine's riverfront.

Or you’re invited to walk with Mercy Family Medicine physicians and staff. They’ll start at noon at the Muscatine Hy-Vee, 2400 2nd Avenue.

The Muscatine Community Y invites people to walk its outdoor trails at noon and receive a free Y day pass.

Senior Resources’ walk starts at 10 tomorrow from the office at 1808 Mulberry Avenue.

And if one-kilometer isn't long enough for you, Muscatine Community College hosts a one-mile walk from the campus to Weed Park and back starting at noon tomorrow.

More than 291,000 Iowans participated in the Healthiest State Initiative’s “Start Somewhere” walk in 2011.
