One of Muscatine's largest employers, GPC is giving back. The Kent Corporation is contributing $25,000 to the Wapello Athletic Boosters for purchasing state of the art exercise equipment for the new wellness center currently under construction in the Wapello Jr./Sr. High School. This project serves as part of the Wapello Athletic Boosters’ mission to encourage physical fitness in students. Kent Corporation is dedicated to the health and well being of Muscatine and the surrounding communities, and are inviting the public to an open house of the wellness center that will take place today, February 4.
With the snow predictions coming Tuesday afternoon, into Wednesday, remember to watch where you park, or you will be ticketed. Alternate Side of Parking will be in effect. Cars need to park on the odd-numbered side of street on Wednesday, February 5th and on the even-numbered side of street on Thursday, February 6, etc. until the Snow Emergency has been cancelled. Cars WILL BE ticketed and towed if not moved. No warnings will be issued.
Some show choirs will soon compete in West Liberty. It's called Stars On Stage, and it runs from 10 to 10 this Saturday, February 8th. Twelve high schools with 17 show choirs from Iowa and Illinois — including West Liberty’s — will meet at the West Liberty High School for the annual competition. The fundraising event helps support the West Liberty fine arts program. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Another Muscatine worksite has qualified to be a Blue Zone designation. City Hall and the City of Muscaitne offices have been declared a Blue Zone worksite designation, and you can join the ribbon cutting celebration this Thursday at 4:30pm in the City Hall Chambers.
