On Tuesday of this week, Iowa Politics had two major announcements, one coming from a sitting Republican, and one from a sitting Democrat.  On the Democrats side State Rep Tyler Olson has officially dropped out of the race for Iowa Governor. Olson's wife filed for divorce recently, and Olson's official statement from his Campaign says Olson needs to focus on supporting his children during this transition in his personal life. Olson will finish his current term as a State Rep, and then go back to the private sector. On the Republican side of the aisle, US Congressman Tom Latham, from Western Iowa, announced he will not run for reelection in November 2014, and he will enter into retirement. Iowa had 5 Congressman, but after the 2010 census, and we dropped in population, Iowa now only has 4 Congressman, 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats.
