Just in time for Halloween, Wapello has a Haunted Jail. The Wapello Police Department is hosting the Haunted Jail. It’s in the old jail building at 109 South Fourth Street. Thanks to donations and volunteers, admission is only $3 and proceeds benefit Just 2 Moms of Wapello and the Wounded Warrior Project. According to the Police Department’s Facebook page, prizes will be given away and there will be drawings for free pizzas and cop food, that’s donuts! Free popcorn will be distributed to everyone who goes through the Haunted Jail. The Jail will be open from 7-9 Friday and Saturday nights, October 25th and 26th and 7-9 Wednesday and Thursday, October 30th and 31st.
2013 isn’t quite over yet, Muscatine City Council is looking ahead for next year. The council will be having a goal-setting session on Thursday at 5:30 PM. The meeting will take place at the lower level conference room at City Hall. On the agenda for the meeting will be identifying goals for the upcoming year.
Get ready for some spooky stories this Saturday. The Muscatine County Conservation Board will host a story-telling program at 7 Saturday night, October 26th at the Environmental Learning Center. The spine tingling tales are suitable for the entire family. They will be told outside by a fire, weather permitting, otherwise they’ll be indoors. There is no charge for the program. The Muscatine mayor and city council elections will be Tuesday, November 5th.
