This Friday and Trinity Hospital there will be a drug drop, no questions asked. It’s a problem most people don’t think about until the contents of the medicine cabinet spill out into the rest of the bathroom. How do you deal with the medications you never use or are past their stage of use or both? It’s a problem that Trinity New Horizons, the police department and drug enforcement task force have joined forces to try and help with in Muscatine. These groups are sponsoring a Take Back Medication Disposal Day October 26th from 10 AM to 2 PM. The drop off will be at the Trinity parking lot at 1518 Mulberry Avenue. Members of the public can bring their medications to the event for disposal and the service is both free and anonymous. However, the drop off will not be able to accept needles or other medical sharps. In six previous take back events the drug enforcement agency and local partners received 2.8 million pounds of medications. Officials hope that these events both reduce the chances of drug misuse and dangerous disposal.
