Dozens of visitors from Iowa’s sister state in China swarmed Muscatine the past few days. Here’s Mayor Hopkins with more:

We had a marvelous, marvelous visit. Somewhere around 100 people from the People’s Republic of China, more specifically Hebei Provence, Zhengding County which is our sister city in Hebei Provence. Most of these folks spent two days in Muscatine. We talked business, we talked economic development, we talked educational exchanges, but moreover it was just a pre-emption to the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the state of Iowa and the Hebei Provence 30th Anniversary which takes place tomorrow night, or Tuesday night in Des Moines. And I’ll be attending that event as well. It’s a joyous celebration and the folks from Zhengding and Hebei Provence did not have to be in Muscatine, but they heard so much about Muscatine that they wanted to stop here along their way to Des Moines from Chicago.
