Muscatine County has lost a hard worker and strong advocate for historic preservation. Sixty-six-year-old Kenneth Hyman of Muscatine died at his home on Friday following a battle with cancer. He established Friends of Pine Creek Grist Mill and Friends of Melpine School at Wildcat Den. He was instrumental in reconstruction of the German Methodist Old Stone Church in rural Muscatine County. Most recently he organized a group to reconstruct a log cabin at Wildcat Den.
Hy-Vee has issued an advisory for consumers regarding some packages of Hy-Vee label dips and sour cream. The company has determined that some recent shipments do not meet quality standards. They may spoil prior to the code date on the package. Hy-Vee officials emphasized there are no health risks associated with these products and unspoiled products are safe to consume. Affected products have been removed from Hy-Vee warehouses and store shelves. Customers who have recently purchased Hy-Vee brand dips or sour cream should check the product for mold or other signs of spoilage and return any spoiled product to their local stores for a refund.
