Emily Lofgren, daughter of State Representative Mark and Paula Lofgren of Muscatine, is a Republican candidate for the House District 91 seat now held by her father. Mark Lofgren, a Republican, is running for the Iowa Second Congressional District seat now held by Representative Dave Loebsack, a Democrat. Emily Lofgren, a guest on yesterday's “Moving Forward” program on KWPC, just returned from China, where she has been teaching.
Lofgren, who has been interested in politics since middle school, shared her background.
Muscatine Aldermen Mark LeRette also has announced for the District 91 seat.
Buffalo firefighters performed a river rescue of sorts last night. A call came in around 8 o'clock that two people were in a disabled boat on the Mississippi near an island across from Buffalo Shores. Within 30 minutes, firefighters in a rescue boat located the boaters near Loud Thunder Forest Preserve on the Illinois side and towed their boat to safety.

The 33rd annual Wilton Founders Day celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, August 23rd & 24th in downtown Wilton.
