It's time for farmers markets. The one in Columbus Junction opens at 4:30 today,
Friday, in the American Legion parking lot at 99 Second Street. It will take place
rain or shine every Friday through October 11th.
Vendor guidelines are available at the Community Development
Center, 232 Second Street.




It's been in planning since 2003. But construction is now starting on a $4 million
addition to the Wilton Retirement Community. That's according to the Wilton-Durant
Advocate News. The 60,000-square-foot addition is a replacement for the 34-bed
former Wilton Care Center. It includes 10 private rooms for Alzheimer's patients, a
central dining room, therapy space, offices and a large core area surrounded by six
private and nine semi-private rooms. Construction will take nine months to a year.



Let's do it. That's what voters in Wapello are saying about a new swimming pool
twice the size of the existing facility. That's according to an article in the Quad
City Times. They approved a bond issue to spend up to $775,000 to construct a new
pool. City council approval is still needed and that could come at a May 16th
meeting.



The Iowa National Guard, in conjunction with the National Football League, is
hosting three High School Player Development football camps in Iowa in June. The
two-day camps.in Waverly, Sioux City and Des Moines.are free to all Iowa football
players in grades 9 through 12. Enrollment is limited to the first 200 applicants
per camp. Iowa high school coaches are also invited to attend and bring their

The Muscatine High School Orchestra performs its final concert of the school year
tonight, Friday. The orchestra received a Division 1 rating last week for its
performance in Bettendorf. The concert will also feature the MHS Chamber Orchestra
and the presentation of awards to outstanding orchestra musicians.
