Get the lead out.
That’s what environmental people are saying about some plastic shopping bags.
A recent screening of 125 various shopping bags in a dozen states found three, including one from Iowa, with high concentrations of lead.
Kathleen Hennings is with the Iowa DNR.
She says in past years plastic bags found to be in noncompliance with laws associated with toxic metals in packaging were manufactured overseas.
But she says though the Iowa bag with lead was manufactured in Des Moines, it was the film supplier who was at fault for the lead.
Hennings says the bags were immediately removed from stores months ago.
