This past Saturday night, the West Liberty Community Center was packed

for an evening of celebration as West Liberty celebrated 175 years. The

night included a free dinner and featured Mayor Chad Thomas reading a

proclamation about the town’s history.

The community center also held tables that were covered with antiques from

current and former residents willing to show what they’ve collected of the town’s


A book illustrated with photo's and history of West liberty was also offered for

sale.  Members of the West Liberty Heritage Foundation gave presentations as

founders of the town.

The 175 year celebration will continue throughout 2013 with each month

highlighting a different part of the towns heritage and history.
