Anyone who attended the Columbus Junction City Council meeting Wednesday
and blinked, likely missed the action, as the council handled its business and
adjourned in about two minutes.
In what city officials acknowledged was a record-setting short meeting, the
council approved bills and a liquor license renewal for the American Legion.
Mayor pro temp-ore Mark Huston also reported Cole Construction, Keosauqua,
had planned to begin work on the Iowa River improvement project last week,
but had to delay because of weather. Huston said the contractor had not
rescheduled the start of work, but has assured city and project officials most of
the work would be completed by spring.
