The city of Wilton is moving ahead with improvements to the water treatment plant.

On the advice of H.R. Green, an engineering and technical consulting service, the Wilton City Council has accepted bids totaling more than $131,000 for improvements to the fluoride, chlorine and pressure filter equipment at the water plant. The vote was unanimous.

According to Council minutes, city administrator Chris Ball told the Council it could approve all three improvements or pick and choose which ones it wanted. But he says all of the upgrades are needed for the plant, and it would benefit the facility to have all of them done now.

No special financing is needed for the project. Ball says water department rates will cover much of the cost.
