A former Davenport alderman has been arrested and charged with assault while displaying a weapon. Davenport police arrested 71-year-old Keith Meyer on Sunday morning. He is out of jail on bail. Cops say Meyer threatened his neighbor with a shotgun. According to the Quad-City Times, police say Meyer’s neighbor called them and said the former alderman had pointed a shotgun at him. At issue is a speed bump Meyer is building on a driveway he jointly owns with the neighbor. The neighbor told officers when he got a digital camera to document the construction, Meyer approached with a rifle and threatened to use it on him. Meyer says he felt threatened by the neighbor and grabbed his unloaded shotgun to defend himself. Meyer was defeated in a re-election bid in 2007. Phil Roberts, KWPC News.
