Highway 61 bypass accident

A West Chester woman was injured following a two vehicle accident Monday morning at 10 on the highway 61 bypass as the Hershey Avenue overpass.

The accident involved a Ford SUV and a cement truck. The truck is owned by Hahn Ready Mix of Muscatine and was driven by Guy Hahn of Letts. The 2001 Ford Explorer was owned and was operated by Dixie Kay Swift of West Chester. Swift was northbound on 61 nearing the overpass of hershey Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median. The explorer entered the southbound traffic way. The cement truck was taveling south on 61 and struck the Exploerer on the passenger side. Swift was transported from the scene by the Muscatine Fire Department ambulance to Unity Hospital. The incident remains under investigation by the Muscatine Police Department. Traffic was shut down for about an hour Monday morning as a result of the accident.
