Grant students got a lesson in empathy at their Leading Meeting last week. They discussed the definition of the word and listened to a story about fellow classmate Carter Mohagen. For Carter’s ninth birthday, he wanted to donate his birthday money to the domestic violence shelter.

Carter had heard about New Beginnings and took action to become part of the “it takes a village” phenomenon.Carter said the reason he donated was “because I think they all deserve a new beginning.” Charla Schafer and Judy Yates from MCSA were there to talk a little about the domestic violence shelter and thank Carter.
