Downtown Muscatine will play host to the 8th Annual Girls Getaway this weekend.

Participants will be treated to a day of style, learning, and fun. The day will begin with a brunch sponsored by Women United, catered by Hy-Vee’s Chef Tessa.

Throughout the day, event goers will be treated to speakers from various organizations. Brandy Olson will speak about Women United, followed by keynote speaker Denise Wassenhave from Lean on Me, LLC. Wassenhave will help attendees learn about “Finding Joy in your Clutter.”

Various seminars will be held throughout the day at local businesses. Seminar choices include collaborating on an original painting, creating a design on fabric, learning about different skin and hair products, and more.

Throughout the day, participants will have the option to enjoy complimentary wine at participating businesses and have photo-booth-style pictureS taken.

The day will end with pizza and drawings for gift baskets and prizes.

The Girls Getaway is a collaboration between the Downtown Action Alliance, the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Muscatine Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Event organizer Jodi Hansen says, “The goal is to get people downtown to explore our unique shops and sample our delicious restaurants.”

“We have so many great sponsors who have donated such great prizes and gift baskets, it’s going to be such a fun time,” Hansen says.
