The Muscatine Center for Social Action (MCSA) will receive a portion of the profits from all sales from the fireworks tent located in the Muscatine Hy-Vee parking lot.

Jim Simmons, Hy-Vee Store Director, stated, “I believe this is the only fireworks stand in Muscatine that is giving back to our community. For every dollar taken in, MCSA gets a percentage. Why would you get your fireworks anywhere else?”

The booth will be located at Hy-Vee’s parking lot on 2nd Avenue and opens the evening of June 22.  Hours will be 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. through July 4th, with special hours on July 5th from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Charla Schafer, Executive Director, noted, “MCSA is largely a donation-based organization, so we are very pleased to be the recipient of this generosity. We are also grateful to the many, many volunteers who are giving their time staffing the booth to increase the amount of money MCSA receives. The funds raised will be used to support those we serve, which, in 2016, included housing 79 children and their families at MCSA, while working to maintain housing for an additional 343 children and their families in our community.”

MCSA operates a homeless shelter, a homeless prevention program, and a domestic violence shelter.   For more information on MCSA, visit or call (563) 264-3278.
